This may feel a little bit like cheating—and maybe it is—but we want to pull back the curtain and show you exactly what it takes to work at Watershed. We expect you to understand and consider the qualities and characteristics that are important to everyone here at Watershed.
This isn’t a trick or a gimmick. We’re honestly telling you what it takes to be part of the Watershed team. Ready? Let’s do this!
1. Learn about what Watershed does.
This may be challenging and it can take a little time to understand—but this is the most important thing you need to do. We want you to skillfully explain what we do, describe how our clients use Watershed, and articulate how we’re impacting the training and performance industry.
If you dive in and have questions, we’re always happy to help. We can (and frequently do) spend hours discussing what we do, and we’ll guide you through the process.
2. Understand our Core Values.
Our core values are at the heart of all we do. They’ve brought us this far, and they’ll continue to push us onward and upward. Take time to understand them and how they resonate with you.
3. Be ready to make a big impact.
Watershed is a small company with big dreams. We aren’t the type of company where you come aboard, get a comfy chair, and do the same thing day after day for 10 years. Innovation and disruption are chaotic.
Be ready to storm the castle, grow your skill set and expertise, and stretch yourself beyond your current capabilities. As Mike would say, “Go be hard charging.”
4. Show off.
You’ve worked hard to get where you are in your career, and you should be proud. We want to see you demonstrate your experience and show us why hiring you will make us better.
Be ready to talk about a favorite project you’ve worked on, how you’ve expanded your skill set, and how you plan to continue growing in your career.
We aren’t looking to measure you against a checklist of talents and abilities. Rather, we’re looking to understand you better, outside your resume.
5. Have a little patience.
Hiring is a meticulous process, and we’re willing to spend the time to find the right person. There’s no secret formula for a perfect Watershed candidate. What ends up being the right fit isn’t dependent on a single skill, previous job experience, certification, or any other qualification.
The process is multifaceted and has just as much to do with you being a perfect fit for us and our company culture as it does with us being a perfect fit for you. In other words, finding the right person just takes time.
There you have it. The “not-so-secret-because-we-told-you-the-secret” secret sauce. Any questions? Drop us a line!
